Christian View On Death

There is no telling that living life as a new Christian can be quite hard and daunting. by telling this, it’s not that I’m trying to find comfort or tell others as if i know better. I do still go through struggles here and there. I’m just saying that there are so many things that you have to learn Christian way, that I’ve never understood or known before.

Hence, i believe now that i can sympathize myself with others who went through the same situation.

From our bible study on 1 Tess 4:13-18, 2 weeks ago, we learnt that our view of death as a Christian will shape us differently the way we look forward to the future, the hope. in fact, Christian who has died is even called fallen asleep, to give the assurance that every Christian will be raised together under ruler-ship of Christ Jesus in the day where the Lord is coming.

Something that is in common in light of this, is that our beloved former president Soeharto died couple of days ago. well I’m not sure if beloved is the word, but seeing from people perspective of him, there are some who’re mournful, some who’re delightful of this. I’ve seen some friend post a note ‘rest in peace in heaven’.

This tricks me to ask my friend, are you sure he will be in heaven? he did all this bad thing isn’t he, and after-all he doesn’t believe in Jesus, how can he be saved?
Not trying to be judgmental here, but i believe this can be a good starting point to let others view the different view of death as a Christian.

Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel” (Mk 1:14-15)
