The Walk Of Faith

The word faith comes from the Latin fides which means trustworthy. The word ‘confide in’ has the same root word with the word faith. When you have faith in something or somebody, it means you confide in that thing or person that they will serve you confidentially and that you can have confidence that they will do their best to do what they supposed to do and to keep their promises.

Having faith is not the same as believing in fairy tales. While the fairy tales fascinate us, faith will scare us. You only need to use your imagination if you want to believe in a fairy tales, but you need to have more than courage to be able to have faith. Fairy tales are created as a feel-good make-believe story that can make us fly to the moon. Faith, on the other hand, will knock us down with the hard reality of the truth.

Jesus said that you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. Facing the truth is not an easy thing to do since many people love to live in make-believe world. They dare not to face the moment of truth. That’s why Jesus regarded the religious people of his generation as the blind who lead the blind. They use their priesthood mantle as the signature of their denial of the truth. They don’t like the truth because they live in the darkness. When the Son of Light comes near them, they will run away and hide since they dare not to let themselves be exposed as fakes, cheaters, and con-men.

Many Christians today also live in denial to the truth. They act their life as if there’s an easy answer for everything in life. Prayer has become more like a magic spell, Bible has become more like mantra book, and Giving has become more like a human sacrifice to please the gods of the ancient world. Just listen to what they say, they’ll tell you that they always live in high mountain all year long. They always have summer in the fairy tales land; they don’t know the cold of the winter when faith has run out till what’s left is just the tiny little drop of hope.

The real walk of faith will put you into a lot of dehydration and boringness. The expected miracles only come once in a blue moon, just to make sure that you still have enough faith to hang on a little bit longer. You will have to face darkness day after day so that even when the ray of light comes like a lightning, only a second long, you will still be grateful for what the Gracious Father has given you.

Look at the heroes of the Bible. They live in constant darkness all through their lives. Nonetheless, God calls them as the spiritual giants of faith. The secret is that faith grows stronger amidst darkness and pains. In the darkness, your faith will shine more. In pain,, your muscles of faith will be trained. If you want to be a giant of faith, you have to dare yourself to live lifestyles that will put you into constant danger.

No soldiers have become a warrior if they never fight any battles. The more battles they have, they more their skill and courage of the warrior-hood grows. No one has become a warrior only by daydreaming under mistletoe. You have to go out and fight for your destiny. The heroes of faith are those who don’t have the fear factor. They will fight until the end of their lives.

Apostle Paul said that nothing has stopped his faith from operation. No hunger, no shipwrecks, no troubles, no afflictions, no persecution that can separate him from the love of Christ Jesus, his lord. How about you? Are you ready to sign up for the experience?

Nice post Jed, and I always remember that Walk in Faith is not at all easy. Even worst than the ordinary path of life which other people experience. More we said we believe and we have faith in God, more we will experience troubles and problems in our life. God never promise that He will give us a smooth life, but He is promise that He will give us strength to face what will come to us in this life.

I believe that God is with us all the time, but then the question is, are we allowing God to be with us and work for us ? Because most of the time, when we are facing troubles and problems, we tend to solve them with our own way. Only after we losing out, we come to God and ask.
